Abstract

This study evaluated the influence of work life balance programs on talent engagement among National Polytechnics in Kenya. William Kahn's concept of employee engagement served as a guidepost for the studies to be conducted. Descriptive research design was utilized in this study. The target population was 102 staff members from Kisumu National Polytechnics, Kisii National Polytechnic and Sigalagala National Polytechnic. Sample size of 81 was arrived at using Yamane formula. In order to gather data, the study employed structured questionnaires. Pilot research was conducted at Kitale National Polytechnic to establish construct validity. Cronbach's Alpha was used to assess the data's reliability. Both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques were used in the study of the data. Descriptive statistics included measures like mean and standard deviation as well as frequency distributions. Inferential statistics methods like regression and correlation analysis were used. Graphs, tables, and charts were used to display the data. Work life balance programs had a significant relationship on (β = .618, p < 0.05) talent engagement. The study therefore recommends that management should promote a culture of work-life balance. This could involve encouraging employees to take breaks throughout the day, discouraging employees from working long hours, and celebrating employees who achieve a healthy work-life balance. A supportive work environment can help employees to feel comfortable prioritizing their personal lives.
