Abstract
This study assessed the influence of strategic alignment on service delivery among private hospitals in Kisumu County, Kenya. Resource based view Theory and Structural Contingency Theory served as the theoretical underpinnings for the study. Descriptive study design was employed in the study. The study targeted 96 respondents comprising of two hospital administrators (Chief Executive officers and General Managers) and one patient from each of the 32 level 4 and 5 private hospitals in Kisumu County registered and licensed by KMDPU by 2023. Census sampling was applied in selecting 64 hospital administrators while simple random sampling was applied in selecting one patient per hospital to respond to service delivery questions during data collection. Primary data was collected through structured questionnaires. Descriptive and inferential analysis was used to the quantitative data. Results show that the relationship between strategic alignment and service delivery among private hospitals in Kisumu County was found to be linear, positive and significant (β = 0.543, p < 0.05). The findings further indicated that the relationship between strategic alignment and service delivery was positive and significant (r=.610**, ρ<0.01). The study therefore concluded that strategic alignment significantly influences service delivery among private hospitals in Kisumu County in Kenya. To ensure effective service delivery, the study recommended that management of private hospitals in Kisumu County should continuously adapt to the evolving industry environment, adhere to regulatory standards, and engage with the community to address the unique healthcare challenges of the region.
